Amazing people are all around us. If we take the time to look we will see them.
Friday, December 6, 2013 I ventured out into the cold to attend Revive Salon & Spa and Mainstream Boutique’s Second Annual Fundraiser and Fashion Show for A Race Worth Winning (araceworthwinning.com). While the 2012 event featured twelve vendors at Revive Salon & Spa, this year 28 vendors shared their crafts, products and services in a conference room at Grandstay Suites in Apple Valley, Minn. The hope was to raise awareness about and funds for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). To my surprise many of the 28 vendors who participated in the event were in some way directly connected to ALS.
Marci Plomski shared her Stella & Dot jewelry hoping to do what she could to help out.
Kate Hall, an independent consultant for Thirty-One, enjoyed an evening of sharing information about the Thirty-One products while doing what she can to help others. www.mythirtyone.com/katehall
Vendor donations ranged from 10-100% of their evening sales.
Helping others appears to be in Dr. Tony Felten’s nature. He enjoyed speaking to shoppers and showing his support for Revive Salon & Spa and ALS A Race Worth Winning. www.healthsourcechiro.com

Stacy and her husband operate a family owned Hallmark store. Showing their support this evening was special because they have an employee who lost her husband to ALS.
Chrissy’s excitement for the evening came from her joy in giving to a good cause.
Patricia Sauer was inspired by her nephew’s wife (Erin Rowe-Garofalo of Revive Salon & Spa) and gladly accepted the invitation to share her talents during a fun evening while also showing her support for ALS. www.TheRustyGarden.com

Erin Rowe-Garofalo and her friend Allison. Allison’s father, Dan Ryan, lost his battle with ALS in 2009. Founded in 2005 by a group of friends when a loved one was diagnosed with ALS. A Race Worth Winning – ALS is a local nonprofit organization based out of Elko New Market, MN. 100% of the funds they raise are donated to the ALS Association – MN Chapter for the purpose of research and to provide much needed equipment and assistance to families afflicted with this disease. A Race Worth Winning – ALS is very honored that the MN/ND ALS Association has recognizing them as their 2013 Honoree!
Filled with fashion and fun, shopping, stories and smiles and education, December 6th was an evening to embrace and remember. For those of you in the Apple Valley area make a note on your calendar for November 2014: GET INFO ON SHOPPING AND FASHION SHOW TO BENEFIT ALS (great, unique Christmas gifts and an opportunity to support ALS research and A RACE WORTH WINNING).
Erin Rowe-Garofalo said of the event, “I always hope to raise $1000 or more in the few short hours we have. I love raising money for A Race Worth Winning. It was started in memorial of a beautiful man. He was a father, grandfather, husband and friend of many. He had a radiating smile he shared often and always made a point to know EVERYONE’s name. We raise money in honor of him. He still warms the heart of many in our memories. He lives on in many ways.
